When you are offering freebies, you have to make your customers see the quality and value in the freebies. The least thing you want them to see is that your freebies are expandable. They might be free but they certainly aren't cheap.

2. Viral marketing

When you are giving free guide as freebies, try to incorporate your landing page link in the guide. Don't flood the pages though, content still comes first. And when you are in viral marketing, you will encourage your readers to give the book out freely.

You can even put your free guide on ebook directories so that more people can download the book. You can also participate in giveaways with your ebook and as more people get your ebook, you will be able to grow your list quickly.

3. Demo

This is another wonderful way to get people to sign up on your list. When you are offering demo, you give them a chance to experience your product and many people are interested to try the demo before they pay for the full version.

Let's say you are building a list to market your article submission software. Why don't you offer a demo (with limited function of course) to your visitors so that they can feel what your software can do.

4. Membership

When you are offering a membership area to build your list, remember to make it as exclusive as possible. Tell your visitors what they will get sign up for the free membership.

For starter, you can give your members a classy title. Some affiliate marketers will call you as a gold class member even you just sign in free for the membership. They then extend the title to diamond or platinum membership for paid members. This certainly makes you feel good, doesn't it?

Think about this, how do you feel when I call you a basic and when I address you as gold member? There is certainly a different shift in emotion when your members see that and it can create a greater impact when your members see the classy title everytime they log into the list. And when they are impressed, it is easier to sell to them. :-)
