After much discussion about planning for 2009, there is something you must include in your plan so that you will keep your online business on track. Let's take a look together what these things are:

1. Where are you now?

"Where does your affiliate marketing business stands now?" You need to look into your business seriously and where you are now. What are you doing to let your business visible? Are you getting the response you are supposed to?

Ask yourself how much have you done for your business so far. This will help you to establish goals for your near and far future.

2. Where you want to go?

To know where you want to go, you need to know why you want to be successful in affiliate marketing. Is it the money? Is it the satisfaction as a successful person? Or the challenges you face in every project?

Once you understand the why, it will be your motivation to get you through any challenges you will face in this business. When you are stuck in any situation, just look at what you join the business in the first place and you will draw the energy back to you. Then, the solution will come to you.

3. Get from where you are now to where you want to be

Of course the first thing you need is action. You can't get anything done when you are sitting on the bench. Can you? I bet you knew that but somehow we just like to procrastinate (I hope you are not like that).

When you sense you are delaying your work, look into the why again. If you want that big house, make sure you see the picture of that house everyday. Let it motivate you to go for your goals.

Then you need to choose your tools. What kind of tools you need to get the response you want? Sometime only particular tools will attract your target audience and sometime you need to pay for that.

When you are paying for these tools, always look into your budget first. Remember this, affiliate marketing is for you to make money instead of losing money. When you are low on budget, you can either look for other alternative or stay with the free tools that might take you longer time to see your result.

Successful affiliate marketers have a schedule that they are dedicated to follow. Every marketing campaign need to be roll out on time. Imagine these campaigns are your construction project. Everyday you delay your construction is another day you loss profit.

Now, you have done everything you can possibly imagine to build your affiliate marketing business. It is time to track your result. It is time to look at which tools are getting the respond you want. Replace the under performing tools with something more responsive. You can save a lot of money then.

Plus, by tracking your result, you will know what is working and what is not. Then, you will know where to better spend your time. You can then streamline your schedule to be more productive.
