Who Are You In Affiliate Marketing?

Have you ever wonder who you actually are in affiliate marketing? Many people said that you are the boss and business owner when you are in affiliate marketing. But is that all?

I personally think that you are the CEO, CFO, manager, subordinate, even the janitor (is often you need to clean up your website to keep it up to date). Being the boss and the business owner is just some fancy words to attract your attention. You are in fact a one man show.

But what makes affiliate marketing fun is to think that I can control when and where I want to work for my business. I am not bound to any red tape in the corporate world and no one will nag me when I want to relax and chill out.

And when you look at it, affiliate marketing is like an offline sales job where you earn commission when you make a sale. The difference as an affiliate marketer, you can represent different vendors and promote your products.

You can be an affiliate marketer for 197 vendors and it is OK (if you can manage them, by all means). Unlike an offline sales job, you are often tied to the company.

By the way, there is no ceiling to how much you earn with affiliate marketing. Coming from a sales background, I know how it felt when you are limited by the cap. If you work more than the cap, your hard work will not be rewarded into commission yet the company will take that into consideration when they increase your sales target next year.

Does that sound fair to you? Go figure.

And what if you are bound to the desk and receive the same pay every month? You stand can make money when you are a sales person. But, stuck to a desk? You are more bound by the ceiling.

Since that is the case, why don't you give affiliate marketing a think? It is also direct. When you refer a sale, the vendors will pay you. If you don't refer a sale, the vendors will not penalized you or call you for a painful "meeting". In other words, you are also like a freelancer in the affiliate marketing world.

Some of you might link freelancer to insecurity but once you know how much some freelancers can earn, you probably will want to join them today.

It is to my highest hope that you can see clearly the role you play in affiliate marketing and you will start to appreciate it. :-)
